  Songwriting Schools and Education

There are only a handful of schools and universities with programs devoted to the education of the commercial songwriter.  If you know of any good educational songwriting schools, please suggest that link be added to our site.

Berklee College Of Music - Founded in 1945, Berklee College of Music is the world's largest independent music college and the premier institution for the study of contemporary music. The college's 3,000 students and 375 faculty members interact in an environment designed to provide the most complete learning experience possible, including all of the opportunities and challenges presented by a career in the contemporary music industry.

Belmont University School of Music - Nationally recognized music program characterized by diversity, particularly in the types of music majors offered, including church music, commercial music, music composition and music education.

Contemporary Music Center - Contemporary Music Center is the premier center for the study of contemporary music (i.e. radio / chart ready music) in Australia. The center is fully government funded with the most modern 16 station hard disk recording suit in the country and a newly completed 24 track digital recording studio.

Harriet Schock School of Songwriting - Hit songwriter Harriet Schock offers a correspondence course in songwriting.

Los Angeles Music Academy (LAMA) - This sight offers courses in a particular instrument after picking an instrument.  If you dig around you'll find they offer courses for 1 year at a reasonable price for songwriting. 

MTSU - recording industry program - Middle Tennessee State University has one of the best recording industry programs in the nation.

NashCamp - NashCamp offers two weeks -- songwriting session and a bluegrass music camp session.   Each is an intensely focused but flexible course of songwriting instruction and individual bluegrass instrument instruction.  In both sessions students will study and network with important figures in the music business.  Leave the hectic world behind for an unforgettable musical experience at a beautifully restored mansion nestled in the hills of Tennessee just outside Nashville. 

Paul Reisler's Songwriting Workshop - Intensive songwriting workshop with Paul Reisler.   Offers songwriting workshops every summer on beautiful island off coast of British Columbia.
